Terms of use
Last updated:
These terms govern your use of SohoPage, whether you come to read, to respond or to write. By using the site you agree to them. They are written to be read, so please do.
1. The service
SohoPage is a publishing platform for independent writers. Reading is free and needs no account. Writer accounts are by invitation only; there is no public sign-up. Each writer keeps a blog at their own address on the site, with a profile, categories, stories and an RSS feed.
2. Reading and responding
Anyone may respond to a story by giving a name and a comment. Responses are reviewed before they appear, and we may decline or remove any response. You are responsible for what you write. By sending a response, you allow us to publish it beneath the story it answers, with the name you gave.
3. Writer accounts
If you have been invited to write here, keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what is published from your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the community guidelines.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you publish on SohoPage. By publishing, you give us permission to host, store, display and distribute your content, including through RSS feeds, for as long as it remains on the site and for the purpose of running the service.
You are responsible for your own content, and for having the right to publish it, including any images. You may ask us at any time to remove a story or your whole blog. Removal stops us displaying it; copies already collected by feed readers or other services are beyond our control.
5. Acceptable use
Use SohoPage in line with the community guidelines. In addition, do not attempt to disrupt or overload the site, get around its security or moderation, or use automated means to send responses or messages.
6. Links to other sites
Stories may link to other websites, and writers’ profiles may link to their own. Links are ordinary links. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for what they contain.
7. Removing content
We may remove any content, or close any blog, that breaks these terms or the guidelines, or that we are required to remove. To report a story or a response, or to raise a copyright complaint, use the contact page and choose Report a post or comment or Copyright, with a link to the page concerned.
8. Changes to the service
SohoPage may change over time. We may add, alter, suspend or discontinue any part of the service, or the service as a whole, at any time.
9. No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not promise that the site will always be available, free of errors or suitable for any particular purpose. Stories and responses are the views of the people who wrote them, not of SohoPage.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SohoPage is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss of data or content, arising from your use of the site or your inability to use it. Writers are responsible for their stories, and readers for their responses.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Continuing to use SohoPage after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Questions
If anything here is unclear, write to us through the contact page.
