Help

Short answers to the questions readers and writers ask most often. If yours is not here, the contact page reaches the SohoPage team directly.

Reading

Do I need an account to read?

No. Every story on SohoPage is free to read, and there is nothing to sign up for. Accounts exist only for invited writers.

How do I follow a writer?

Each writer’s profile links to their own RSS feed, found at /handle/feed.xml. To follow everything published on the site, use /feed.xml. Paste either address into any feed reader.

Will the pages work on my phone?

Yes. Every page adapts to the width of your screen, keeps type at a comfortable size and loads quickly, even on a slow connection.

Many stories are in Vietnamese. Will the text display correctly?

It should. The typefaces include full Vietnamese support, so tones and diacritics render as the writer intended, in headings and in body text alike.

Responses

How do I respond to a story?

Scroll to the Responses section at the end of the story, add your name and your comment, and send it. No account and no email address are needed.

Why has my response not appeared yet?

Responses from readers are held for review and appear only once a moderator approves them. Responses that are not approved are deleted automatically after 30 days.

What makes a response likely to be approved?

Staying on the subject of the story and being civil towards the writer and other readers. The community guidelines describe what is not accepted.

Can I change or remove something I wrote?

Because responses are sent without an account, they cannot be edited afterwards. To have one removed, write to us through the contact page with a link to the story and the name you used.

Writing on SohoPage

How do I get a blog on SohoPage?

Writer accounts are by invitation only, and there is no public sign-up. If you would like to be considered, send a short note about your writing through the contact page with the topic Writing here.

Who owns what I publish?

You do. By publishing, you give SohoPage permission to host, display and distribute your work, including through RSS feeds. The terms of use set this out in full.

Can I link to my own website?

Yes. Your profile can carry a link to your website, and links inside your stories are ordinary links to wherever you choose to send readers.

How do I remove a story, or my whole blog?

Ask us through the contact page, saying which stories you want removed, or that you would like the whole blog taken down.

Reports and requests

How do I report a story or a response?

Use the contact page and choose Report a post or comment. Include the link and a sentence on what concerns you. For a work of yours used without permission, choose Copyright instead.

How do I find out what information you hold about me?

Choose Privacy request on the contact page to ask for a copy of your information or for its deletion. The privacy policy describes what we collect, and for how long.
