Find Talent on Workli: Describe the Work in Any Language

Hiring a freelancer often starts with an awkward translation exercise. A client knows the business problem but may not know the job title, technical stack or exact skills to search for. Workli's Find Talent experience is designed for that moment: describe what you need in your own words and in your own language, answer up to three quick questions, and review people whose listed skills and past work fit the request.

The feature does not ask AI to decide who is “best.” It uses transparent skill counts for ordering, then shows evidence from each freelancer's own Workli profile so the client can make the decision.

Start with the problem, not a perfect job title

A small business owner may know that customer enquiries are getting lost but not know whether to search for a CRM consultant, an automation expert or an AI agent developer. A founder may have an app built with an AI coding tool and need someone to make it secure, but “full-stack developer” is too broad to be useful.

Find Talent lets the client begin with a plain description. Workli may ask up to three short questions to clarify the request. This creates a more useful skill set without requiring the client to learn specialist vocabulary before they can start hiring.

The request can be written in any language. That matters for clients who understand their needs clearly but would otherwise have to translate both the business context and the technical terms into English before searching.

The order is based on a count you can inspect

Workli says AI never ranks or rates people in Find Talent. The order is determined by how many of the request's skills each freelancer lists on their profile. That count is visible on every card.

This distinction is important. An unexplained AI score can look objective while hiding assumptions about what makes one person better than another. A visible skill count is narrower. It tells the client why a profile appeared near the top without pretending to predict the outcome of a future project.

Clients should still inspect the profile, read relevant work and talk to the freelancer. Matching more listed skills does not automatically make someone the right hire. It simply creates a practical starting point.

“Their work that fits” connects skills to evidence

A skill label is more useful when it is connected to actual work. Find Talent can quote matching material from the person's own Workli contracts, portfolio pieces and past roles under a section called “Their work that fits.”

This gives the client a path from the request to the profile's evidence. Instead of seeing only “Supabase” or “video editing,” the client can see where the freelancer used that capability and decide whether the context resembles the new project.

Workli may also show a short AI-written note based only on the freelancer's own profile. The note is labelled as AI-generated and does not change the order of results. Its role is to summarise relevant material, not judge the person.

Tools can appear alongside professionals

Some requests have a useful do-it-yourself first step. When an appropriate tool could help the client get started, Find Talent may show that tool together with a professional who can review or finish the result.

This is especially relevant for AI-built apps and websites. A founder may use a tool to produce a prototype, then hire someone to audit security, repair authentication, test payments or deploy the product properly. The tool does not replace professional review where the work carries real operational risk.

Workli's approach recognises that modern projects may begin with software and continue with human expertise.

Turn the search into a checked job post

After reviewing the request, the client can choose people they like. Those people appear first on the invitation page when the client posts the job.

The “Post as a job” option drafts a job post from the original request. The client checks and edits it before anything goes live. This preserves human responsibility for the scope while avoiding the blank-page problem that stops many good projects before they begin.

Once posted, freelancers can send proposals with milestones and dates. If a hire is recorded and completed, it can become part of the freelancer's contract-backed Work Passport.

Freelancers can see how they are being discovered

Find Talent also gives freelancers a useful signal without exposing client privacy. On their Home page, freelancers can see how many client searches they appeared in and which skills were searched.

They do not see who searched or the full text the client wrote. The information helps them understand whether their profile accurately describes their capabilities. A freelancer who repeatedly appears for the wrong request may need to make their headline, skills or work examples more precise.

The best response is not to add every popular skill. A profile becomes more credible when each listed capability is supported by relevant work.

Try Find Talent on Workli

Clients who need a freelancer can find talent on Workli by describing the outcome they need rather than guessing the perfect title. Search and job posting are currently free, and Workli does not take a cut of payments between clients and freelancers.

The feature is deliberately assistive. AI helps translate a request into a clearer search, highlights evidence already present on profiles and drafts a job post for the client to review. The final judgment remains with the people doing the work together.
